Social DistanSING:
Celebrating Sacred and Profane in Music and Community
Saturday, June 20, 2020
6 PM - Live online
As we wrap up our unusual 42nd season, marked by incredible global change, we're reminiscing about our past, processing the present, and looking towards the future of Sacred and Profane. The purpose of our musical community has only grown deeper in this time as we find ways to connect musically and personally. Sacred and Profane has been coming together every week to share with one another in music and community, and we've put together a live broadcast to highlight some of the special projects we've been working on, featuring individual talents from our members, collaborative efforts between choruses, and a conversation with our Artistic Director about the challenges of music-making from a distance.
We're excited to debut several projects, including "virtual choir" performances of William Byrd’s poignant Ave verum corpus, and Stephen Paulus’ The Road Home in collaboration with members of University of San Francisco Choral Ensembles. We're also excited to premiere a new work composed for us by our own assistant conductor, Edna Yeh, specifically for the limitations of teleconferencing.

This broadcast will support of Sacred & Profane's annual fund, as we absorb the financial impact of canceling two of our three concerts this season, and prepare for the uncertainty on the horizon. We're committed to sustaining S&P, and to keep sharing choral music with you for years to come. Donations to Sacred and Profane are greatly appreciated.
While this situation presents great uncertainty for the future of arts organizations everywhere, it also presents an interesting opportunity to get creative, explore new modalities of music-making, collaborating, and forging stronger and more personal connections. We're looking forward to sharing with our audiences in new ways.We hope you'll stay connected with us—personally and musically—and join us in sustaining our community through the power of music.
