Wind: Music for Choir and Wind Ensemble
Soar with Sacred and Profane as we sing two of the great masterworks for choir and wind ensemble: Anton Bruckner’s resplendent Mass in E Minor and Igor Stravinksy’s magnificent Mass. Scored for winds and double choir, Bruckner’s Mass in E Minor is among the nineteenth century’s finest sacred works, masterfully combining Bruckner’s unique command of sixteenth century polyphony and late nineteenth century chromatic harmony. Stravinsky’s Mass presents the Neoclassical composer at his finest, with the clear, brilliant musical language and dynamic rhythm for which he is loved. Also on the program will be Karin Rehnqvist’s remarkable To the Angel with the Firey Hands. Sung in Swedish, this work for choir and oboe showcases Rehnqvist’s exciting use of kulning, Swedish yodeling. Download the flier (pdf)
