Spring 2000 - Ensalada and Nonsense

Eduardo Mendelievich, Director

Fun and fantastic music for mixed chamber choir.
The program includes sixteenth century Spanish composer Mateo Flecha's La Bomba, which describes a shipwreck with onomatopoeic sounds that are mingled with cries for help and salvation. Other concert highlights include Nonsense, by Italian composer Geoffredo Petrassi. This twentieth-century piece is set to Edward Lears' minimalist poetry, and tells the crazy tales of growing noses and being trampled in a crowd--and getting even! Music by Tomas Luis de Victoria, Charles Ives, Astor Pizzolla, Giancarlo Menotti, and Carlos Guastavino will also be featured.
